Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on his 6th visit to Tamenglong district on Friday under Go to Hills mission inaugurated several development projects in Tamenglong district and announced Rs 18 crore for eight new development projects in the district.
The development projects which were inaugurated include the much awaited drinking water supply scheme by water conservation at Hangoipat, Carpentry area Khoupilong Tamenglong Ward No V under Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) Scheme phase- I.

After the inauguration of the water supply scheme at Khoupilong Ward No V, the ministers’ team proceeded to Mini Secretariat at Farmland and inaugurated several development projects and laid the foundation stones and held a public meeting. He was accompanied by his cabinet ministers.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh was accompanied by his cabinet ministers including Finance Minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh; Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh; Water Resources Minister Letpao Haokip; PHED Minister Losii Dikho; Forest Minister Awangbow Newmai; Education Minister S Rajen; MAHUD Minister O Henry Singh; Tourism Minister O Lukhoi; Veterinary Minister Vungzagin and Employment Minister Th Satyabrata Singh.
In his chief guest speech, N Biren Singh thanked the people of Tamenglong for the support and cooperation given to his government.
He informed the gathering that his government has included Tamenglong district for construction of children’s park and mentioned that he will be giving two Ambulances for Tamenglong.
CM Biren assured the gathering that he would push the concerned contractor of Imphal- Kangchup – Tamenglong road construction for early completion.
In his welcome speech, minister Awangbow Newmai lauded the CM for visiting Tamenglong five times after becoming the chief Minister of Manipur. The other chief ministers seldom visited the district, he said.
He mentioned that unlike other chief ministers of Manipur, N Biren inaugurated the completed development projects in a stipulated time. “After seeing many development projects in the district, Tamenglong is no longer the most backward district as many say, but it is now an advanced district,” he added.
He also appealed to all citizens of Tamenglong to welcome all development projects and give support and cooperation in the coming years as well.
The ministers’ team also held a cabinet meeting at Mini secretariat DC Office complex.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, CM Biren Singh informed that the meeting had discussed a review resolution of ordinance to be produced in the assembly.
He said that the meeting discussed Manipur police and Manipur Rifle’s promotion on a senior scale basis, and the cabinet also approved for appointment of IRB, he added.
During their August visit to Tamenglong district, N Biren Singh in the presence of Works minister Th Biswajit and Forest minister Awangbow Newmai and other ministers and dignitaries, had inaugurated several development projects including Geriatric ward, Tamenglong district, water Supply scheme at Dailong under JJM, Boys Hostel Tamenglong district headquarters, Water Supply scheme at Pallong- II under JJM.
CM Biren also inaugurated Rainwater Harvesting at Tamei, construction under OTSA under Minority department, ESTB of Agrobase (Banana plant) Fibre processing unit under RKVY, One Stop Centre Tamenglong district under Social welfare department.
He also inaugurated Baily Bridge 100 feet span over Amang River on the road from Tharon to L Pabram at 7.26 km under Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) constructed by Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency as a work agency.
He also inaugurated Langmai Higher Secondary school at Tamei under School Fagathansi Mission in Education department, inauguration of the Hospital equipment and telemedicine facilities in Health department under Hill Area Development programme, inaugurated Sabhavna Mandap at Tamei TD Block Tamenglong under Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Yojana (PMJVK) implemented by Minority Affairs department , MOBEDs, Manipur.
Biren also inaugurated a check post cum Barrack type Quarter under FCA at Forest Range Officer Tamenglong under forest department and also TRIFED Storage Godown at Forest Range Office Tamenglong.
The new development projects inaugurated on Friday include construction of infrastructures for Science and Commerce stream at New Campus of Tamenglong College, construction of Road from L025- Oktan to Nurathen under under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to be implemented by Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency as work agency.
Foundation stones were laid for construction of Indoor sport Auditorium Multipurpose Hall at Tamenglong district headquarter under Tribal Affairs and Hills department; construction of Boys Hostel at New Tamenglong College site under Minority Affairs department government of Manipur; construction of 33/11 Sub- Station, Khongjaron; construction of road from T07- Langkhong- NH-37/53 (wairangba- B) to IT road under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to be implemented by Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency as work agency.
He also laid the foundation stone for construction of road from L028- T02 to Kahulong under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to be implemented by Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency as work agency; for construction of Bailey Bridge (100 ft) over Marangthang river on the road from T03 NH 53 to T04 under Tousem Block; Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to be implemented by Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency as work agency.
After the main function, CM Biren handed over CMHT card to 11 beneficiaries, PMJAY card to 99 beneficiaries, CMST card to 10 beneficiaries and wheel chair for PWD to 5 beneficiaries.
Farmland Women dance troupe performed traditional dance and enchanting the public gathering. Youths of Tamenglong presented a beautiful closing song to wind up the public gathering.
Many people came to submit their memorandum to the chief minister of Manipur and ministers concerned.
