Locals condemn bomb attack on former MLA’s residence in Imphal

Miscreants shot three rounds and hurled a grenade at the main gate of former MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor alias Keba on Tuesday

Locals of Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak and its surrounding areas on Thursday carried out agitations by forming a human chain at Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak, Imphal West, decrying the bomb and gun attack at the residence of former MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor alias Keba.

Speaking on the sidelines of the protest in front of the residence of Keba, a protestor Aribam Radharani said the people of the area strongly condemn the firing and hurling of a bomb at the residence of Keba on Tuesday evening.

The miscreants shot three rounds and hurled a grenade at the main gate of Keba at about 8 pm on Tuesday.

Being a residential area, civilians would have been injured during the incident had the bomb exploded, she said. She appealed to the authority concerned to immediately book the culprits.

The protestor also raised slogans such as ‘we condemned the gun and bomb attack in the residence area’, ‘book the culprits immediately’ among others.

They also held placards that read, ‘stop gun culture and bomb attack within residence area’, ‘we condemned firing of guns and bomb attack at the residence of the former MLA’ and others.

Meanwhile, former MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh alias Keba said to the media that he does not have any enmity with any individuals. He had not received any threats from any unlawful organisation in recent days, he expressed.

Keba said, “I trust in the Manipur police department and believe that Manipur police will book the culprits in a short period.”
