Chief Minister N Biren Singh, who was accompanied by BJP national spokesperson and Manipur in charge Sambit Patra, greeted the people of Ukhrul on the occasion of the 49th Statehood Day and assured to form BJP government in Ukhrul district in the ensuing ADC elections.
Making a clarion call to party leaders and workers, Biren urged the BJP Ukhrul district party leaders not to stick to one’s viewpoint but make adjustments to move ahead with unity.
Mentioning that people of Ukhrul have faced numerous problems and are in need of recreation, the visiting chief minister pledged to construct a Rs 5 crore worth ‘amusement cum children park’ at the district headquarters.
Biren also asked the district party leaders to find a spacious site for the construction so that every visitors could have a good time.
Biren also said that Manipur has been marred with armed forces and other insurgency problems for the last many years.H owever, normalcy has slowly returned in the state with the coming of BJP led coalition government, he added.
Attending as the chief guest of a one-day mandal level meeting organised by BJP Madal Ukhrul, Chingai and Phungyar assembly constituencies, Biren congratulated the hard working citizens of the state for being placed by the NITI Aayodh as the ‘most innovative state’ among the Northeast states, while securing third placed among the Hills states.
Paying tribute to the hard working Ava Market vendors (Ima market vendors), the chief minister who was joined by Sambit Patra took a detour of the market at Phingreitang and its peripherals and assured the vendors to submit their list and avail the loan.
Thanking the visiting leaders, one of the vendors said that all of them will vote for the BJP government. Interestingly, the chief minister also told the authorities concerned to open the Ima market as there is “no report of positive cases” in the district headquarters. This was to encourage the poor vendors to sell their products so that their families do not go to bed with empty stomachs.
Speaking on the occasion, Sambit Patra greeted the massive crowd chanting “Yameisei!” (Ways of greetings religiously used by leaders or speakers in the Tangkhul community) much to the satisfaction of the assembled party workers.
Taking a jibe at Congress government, he categorically stated there are forces outside the government attempting to destabilise the BJP led coalition government in the state referring to the Congress party. However, the Biren government has stood against all odds the test of time by working at booth level and bringing development in the state with the help of the Prime Minister Modi government at centre, he said.
Today, the Biren-led government is nearing a four-year term, he said while adding that the Biren and Modi government is for development, and appealed to the respective mandal workers to show their strength.
Sambit also thanked the mandal presidents for the work they had done. Recalling his experience, Sambit said, “I started off as a mandal secretary and from there rose to the status of a national spokesperson and finally was given the charge of Manipur state.”
The Biren-led government had allocated a sum of Rs 500, 70 lakh (five hundred seventy lakh) for the development of Ukhrul district.H e said, connecting to the people is of utmost importance and the chief minister is exactly doing that by organising ‘Go to Hills and Village’ mission.
“When hills and valley come together, BJP can have a stable government. Without hills, we are nothing,” he said while stressing on the need to have unity between the two. Thothing Kashung BJP Ukhrul president urged the ruling dispensation to bring peace and development in the district.
The day-long meeting was attended by Abhay Giri, BJP Nagaland incharge, social welfare minister Henry Okram, top BJP Manipur pradesh leaders in addition to scores of ADCs intending BJP candidates and party workers. The chief minister will leave for Shillong today to attend the North East Council (NEC) meeting.
