India's daily COVID-19 death toll falls below 300 in over six months
The country's active caseload stood at 2,81,667.

The daily COVID-19 death toll in India was reported below 300 after over six months, while the country's total caseload surged to 1,01,69,118 with 22,273 new positive cases, according to the Union Health Ministry.

A total of 251 more fatalities were recorded in a span of 24 hours, taking the country's COVID-19 death toll to 1,47,343, the ministry said.

While Kerala reported the highest daily new cases at 5,397, Maharashtra recorded the maximum daily casualties with 71, West Bengal and Delhi follow with 31 and 30 daily deaths, respectively

Meanwhile, the total number of recovered cases have reached 97,40,108 with 22,274 new recoveries. The country's COVID-19 recovery rate improved to 95.78 per cent on Saturday, the ministry said.

According to the ministry, India’s present active caseload stood at 2,81,667 which is 2.77 per cent of the total positive cases.

India has so far tested 16,71,59,289 samples, of which 8,53,527 samples were tested for coronavirus on Friday.
