‘We can make a livelihood mission by promoting indigenous foods’

Chief functionary of IRDSO, Nonibala Narengbam addressed the Seed Mela at Wangjing in Thoubal district of Manipur.

The present generation must strive to promote and preserve the state’s indigenous food for better economic growth, Integrated Rural Development Service Organisation (IRDSO) said.

“We can make a livelihood mission by promoting our indigenous foods,” chief functionary of IRDSO, Nonibala Narengbam said at the one-day consultation on Livelihood Promotion cum Seed Mela at Wangjing in Thoubal district of Manipur.

Saying that this is the right time to promote indigenous seeds, Nonibala told reporters, “I hope some positive feedback will surely come from this consultation”.

As a part of the consultation programme, secretary of Weaker Section’s Development Council, Shangnaidar Tontang spoke on the topic ‘Promotion of Indigenous Seed’.

District horticulture officer of Thoubal, Yambem Pradeep highlighted on the ‘schemes and benefits available with Department of Horticulture’.

SMS Agronomy of KVK, Thoubal, N Tomba spoke on ‘Importance of Seed Production by Farmers’.

The consultation on livelihood promotion cum seed Mela was organised by IRDSO with the support of CASA.
