The Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs Manipur (FATYCM) on Monday expressed concern over the alleged mismanagement of returnees and poor arrangement at quarantine centres.

In a release, FATYCM stated that returnees from Chennai recently faced a lot of problems in admitting themselves in quarantine centres as there was no proper coordination. Many returnees questioned the district disaster management authority and MLA concerned of their respective assembly constituency, it said. Arrangement was so poor that the village level committee and parents are worried, it added.

It was reported that a large number of returnees were directly sent to their respective village quarantine centres in Chandel and Ukhrul district, FATYCM stated. It was shocking to learn that after completion of 14 days quarantining many were being discharged from the respective quarantine centres without VRDL test report, the release stated. FATYCM asked if the state government is not in a position to provide swab test results before discharging from quarantine centres, it added.

It appealed to the state government to take up urgent steps to address the issue at the earliest. It also urged the authority concerned to not allow returnees from discharging without obtaining necessary test certificates from the competent authority, FATYCM added.
