COVID-19 claimed seven more lives in Manipur, pushing the death toll to 318, while the cumulative number of positive cases surged to 26,534 with 138 new positive cases, the state health department said on Wednesday.
Of the new positive cases, 122 persons (65 males and 57 females) are from the general population while 16 are Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
The positive cases from the general population included 51from Imphal West, 24 from Imphal East, 17 from Bishnupur, seven from Chandel, six from Thoubal, four each from Ukhrul and Tamenglong, two each from Kakching, Kangpokpi and Senapati, and one each from Tengnoupal, Noney and Churachandpur. All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.
The new COVID-19 fatalities on Wednesday included four from Imphal West, two from Imphal East, and one form Bishnupur.
Of the total 26,534 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, 2,915 are active cases while 23,301 are recovered cases, the state health department said.
Meanwhile, the state's COVID-19 recovery rate stood at 87.81 per cent with 135 new recoveries, it stated.
The state health department further advised those in contact with a COVID-19 positive person to isolate themselves. In case of emergency, one can dial 24x7 Covid Common Control Room Number-1800-345-3818.
