Nagaland's COVID-19 tally rises to 11,186; 27 new cases in 24 hours

Dimapur, the state's commercial hub, recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 6176, followed by Kohima with 3,344 cases.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Nagaland reached 11,186 on Monday as 27 new cases were reported in a span of  24 hours, official sources said.

Of the total COVID-19 cases in the state, as total of 10,086 persons have recovered, 925 cases are active while 57 patients have succumbed to COVID-19, according to the state health department,

Dimapur, the state's commercial hub, recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 6176, followed by Kohima with 3,344 cases. The remaining nine districts recorded below 1,000 cases of COVID-19 infection, as per reports.

Meanwhile, with the coming of the festive season, apprehensions have prevailed that COVID-19 infection may rise if stringent measures are not taken.

"Cases of the disease detected through contact tracing have increased since the recent time. The data of high household contacts clearly points toward living room spread and is a reason why COVID-19 is increasing. We should pay attention to the peril of small gatherings among family and friends, especially with the festive season around the corner,” the latest COVID-19 weekly roundup issued by the Nagaland Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland stated.
