Manipur's COVID-19 caseload on Monday crossed the 25000-thousand mark and the death toll mounted to 281 as eight more persons succumbed to the viral infection in a day, the state health department said.
The cumulative confirmed tally is now 25,045 (General Population 21,963 and Central Security Personnel - 3,082). As many as 135 more persons (75 males and 60 females) were confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus on Monday, a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
The new positive cases are from Imphal West (44), Imphal East (45). Thoubal (12). Bishnupur (9). Kakching (14). Tamenglong (4). Ukhrul (1). Churachandpur (4), Jiribam (1) and Chandel (1). All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.
The COVID-19 victims on Monday included four from Imphal West, three from Imphal East, and one from Bishnupur.
Meanwhile, the state recorded 165 more recoveries, pushing the total recoveries to 21,566 (General Population - 18,786 and Central Security Personnel - 2,780) and the recovery rate is 86.10 per cent.
The number of active cases is 3,198 (General Population - 2,900 and Central Security Personnel 298), the state health department said, while adding that the cumulative number of persons under home isolation is 6,946, of which 5,532 have recovered while 1,126 are active.
Those in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves.
