The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Manipur climbed to 24,292 on Thursday as 159 persons (119 males and 40 females) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases, the state health department said.
Of the total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, 3,245 cases (General Population - 2.937 and Central Security Personnel - 308) are active while 20,798 cases (General Population - 18,038 and Central Security Personnel 2,760) have recovered from the viral infection, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The new positive cases on Thursday included 73 from Imphal West, 43 from Imphal East, 11 each from, Thoubal and Bishnupur, four each from Tengnoupal and Jiribam, three from Tamenglong, two each from Ukhrul, Senapati, Chandel and Kangpokpi and one each from Kakching and Churachandpur.
All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
Manipur recorded four more COVID-19 fatalities on Thursday, pushing the death toll to 249, the state health department said.
The state's COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 85.61 per cent after 158 more persons recovered in a span of 24 hours, it added.
Those in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves.
