Meghalaya gears up to open for tourism
CM Conrad Sangma said that a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) has been signed with a private airline company to operate flights from Delhi to Shillong.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday said that the state has prepared itself to cater to tourists.

Participating in a virtual meeting called by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel to discuss ways to ease travel that will enhance domestic tourism, Sangma informed the Union minister on several initiatives and intervention taken to promote tourism and measures being adopted by the state for the safety of tourists it gears up to open for tourism.

Sangma also said that a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) has been signed with a private airline company to operate flights from Delhi to Shillong, which would further boost tourism.

“Direct flight from Delhi to Shillong and from Shillong to other state capitals in Northeast will open up a huge tourism market”, the chief minister said. 

He further informed that 22 million outbound tourists from India, who usually look for high end tourism destinations outside, can take advantage of the low Covid situation in Northeast and explore the scenic and natural beauty of the region.
