The ASHA worker, who was greeted and welcomed as ‘Corona Warrior’ by the local CVOs and medical department on August 30, was honoured for defeating the dreaded virus by her women colleague of vegetable vendors on September 3 at upper Nute Kailhang (Ema Keithel).
Sixty-year-old Hevei Haokip used to sell vegetables during her free time along with many other women of the town at upper Nute Kailhang in Kangpokpi district.
The women vegetable vendors were excited to welcome back Hevei as healthy and lively as usual after enduring a hard time fighting the Coronavirus, for which they have decided to honour her for her heroism in overcoming the deadly virus.
A couple, Paominthang Kipgen and Hatnu Kipgen of Vengthah Ward no. 3 also donated a large cake to the women vegetable vendors to honour their colleague.
On behalf of all the women vegetable vendors, one vegetable vendor named Pepe said, “We were very sorry when our colleague was infected with the deadly virus. She is a responsible mother and most importantly a frontline worker in the fight against the pandemic COVID-19.”
“We prayed for her speedy recovery when she was suffering and fortunately, she defeated the dreaded virus. As we are extremely excited to welcome her back and see her healthy and lively, we have decided to honour her today,” said Pepe.
It may be mentioned that owing to the prolonged lockdown, women vegetable vendors are badly affected to earn their family livelihood in Kangpokpi district.
