The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Tuesday provided financial assistance to 25 migrant workers in the state who were departing from the state at Awang BOC.

General secretaries of MPCC Devabrata and Hreshwar handed over Rs 1,000 each to the migrant workers who will be heading to Uttar Pradesh, Bengal and Bihar.

Briefing the migrant workers before their departure, Devabrata said that Congress leaders have instructed MPCC to extend any possible help to the stranded migrant workers who will be leaving Manipur.

MPCC has provided financial assistance to help the migrants in their journey so that Congress workers in other states also extend help to stranded Manipuris in their respective states, he said. He further said that that the party will continue to help other stranded workers in days to come.

It may be mentioned that joint secretary (Home), Manipur in a notification on Monday stated that the migrant workers will be travelling to West Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh from Dimapur (Nagaland) as per available means of transportation by train.
