The regular sitting for both the high court and subordinate courts will be regulated till September 15 in anticipation of the resumption of regular court sitting under some guidelines, the Manipiur High Court notified on Monday.
All the courts in the state will take up motion cases, urgent cases, limited regular cases and special ordered cases through video conferencing, stated a notice signed by the registrar general of the high court A Guneshwar Sharma.
In case video conferencing is not possible due to any reason, physical court can be conducted by following strict COVID-19 protocols on permissions, it stated.
It stated that the software and the mobile app for the video conferencing will be ‘Jitsi Meet’ and filing of fresh cases will be accepted in hard copy only for all the courts. However, the counsel or parties from the containment zone can file fresh cases through email, it added.
Pending cases fixed for hearing on a day to day basis up to September 15 will be adjourned to subsequent dates in respect of high court and district courts and the information in this regard, will be uploaded on the website of the district courts and notice boards, the notification mentioned.
The interim orders granted by the high court and the district courts in pending cases will be extended till the next date of effective hearing and similar arrangements will be made by all the respective Juvenile Justice Boards of the districts, it added.
It further mentioned that all officers of the high court up to the rank of superintendent and above shall attend office on all working days. The head of each section shall ensure that at least 66 percent of other staff attend court work without fail on each day. However, the staff who are residing in the containment zones are exempted from attending office on written permission from the registrar general, it stated.
For the district court, the presiding judges will specify the number of staff who will attend the court for the purpose of court sitting and office work at 68 percent working attendance on each day. Staff from the containment zones will be exempted from attending office on written permission from the presiding judges, it added.
