436 released from quarantine, 166 returnees from Delhi, Kerala reach Tamenglong

All 436 are returnees from different cities like Shillong, Guwahati, Bhopal, Chennai, Pune and Delhi, according to the district administration.

As many as 436 people in community quarantine centres in Tamenglong headquarters have been sent home on Thursday morning on completion of 14-day quarantine period. All 436 are returnees from different cities like Shillong, Guwahati, Bhopal, Chennai, Pune and Delhi, according to the district administration.

As many as 166 returnees from Delhi and Kerala also arrived at Tamenglong district headquarters on Thursday evening. More people are on their journey from Jiribam railway station to Tamenglong.

Some returnees coming from red zones tested negative while some are yet to receive their test results. However, they are being sent home today on completion of 14 days quarantined period.  Those who came from green zones have not been tested yet.

At the community quarantine centre opened at Pretty Lamp Institute, Zeliangrong Baptist Church pastor reverend Thuanjinang Pamei prayed for all inmates before releasing them from their quarantine centre in the presence of deputy commissioner Tamenglong Armstrong Pame and Dr Rochunlung and other officials.

The district task force appealed to welcome all those who had completed all formalities of quarantining into their homes and into their society.

Deputy commissioner Tamenglong Armstrong Pame said those released from community quarantine may not undergo further quarantining; However, it is left to the village/ward/ colony to either let them undergo home quarantine or not.

Inmates from Tousem and Tamei Sub Division, 52-Tamei local MLA Awangbow Newmai in coordination with ADC members of Tamei and Tousem area have agreed to provide transportation of the returnees to their respective villages.

All those from nearby Tamenglong Sub Division villages can make their own mode of transportation, the DC said. He appealed all to welcome those who had completed all formalities of quarantining into their homes and their society.

The district task force Tamenglong had earlier released 53 quarantined inmates in the last couple of weeks.
