Manipur on Wednesday recorded its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases with as many as 141 persons being confirmed COVID-19 positive in the last 24 hours, official sources said.
The cumulative number of positive cases in the state surged to 2,458 with the highest single-day spike.
Of the 141 fresh cases, 51 are from Churachandpur, 30 from Imphal West, 29 from Senapati, eight from Thoubal, seven each from Imphal East and Kakching, four from Tamenglong, three from Kamjong and two from Bishnupur, a release from COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
"The risk factor and travel history of most of the positive cases are under investigation and are being awaited," it stated.
Meanwhile, 38 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test, it said.
The numbers of COVID-19 active and recovered cases are 805 and 1,653 respectively while the recovery rate is 67.24 per cent, it added.
The last time the state recorded highest single-day spike was on July 10 when altogether 132 persons tested positive for the virus.
