The Overseas Manipuri Medical Students' Parents' Association (OMMSPA) has expressed its appreciation to all the public notaries, professionals and student bodies for their help in bringing a Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) test centre in Manipur during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Selecting Manipur as an examination centre for the first time for FMGE conducted by National Board of Examination (NBE) would help in easing the difficulties and dilemma the aspirants go through while filling up the form for the exams, said a release.
It said that NBE suddenly announced the FMGE June 2020 session on July 7. But unfortunately, Manipur was not selected as a test centre among the 42 tentative test cities given in the notice. The fillings of forms began from the very next day i.e. from July 8 will end on July 22, it mentioned.
The FMGE aspirants and their parents were confused and worried as in the middle of the pandemic, it was impossible to send young doctors to cities like Delhi or any other cities, it added. OMMSPA made a series of requests, personal contacts with concerned officials and leaders of the state, the release stated.
The effort was fruitful due to the help of some patriots and professionals, NBE informed all the candidates from Manipur of choosing Imphal as their test centre. The NBE issued the order on July 23, one day after the last date of filing the form for the exam, the release added.
