As a part of the anti-malaria month, the Anti-Malaria Day observation was held at three villages during a three-day tour to malaria prone areas in Tamenglong district where awareness programmes were conducted as well.
A three-day tour led by district malaria officer Tamenglong, who is also nodal officer of National Vector Borne Diseases Control programme (NVBDCP), Tamenglong Dr. Felix B Kamei along with the staff visted Sibilong, Nungkao and Phaitol village and conducted an awareness programme and performed insecticide Treatment of Bed Nets (ITBN) and observed Anti-Malaria Day. The touring programme concluded on Monday.
Speaking to the media, district malaria officer Tamenglong Dr Kamei said that Anti-Malaria Day observation at village levels will continue till November under Tousem block and other blocks of Tamenglong district.
He said that it is Malaria transmission season; however, no malaria cases were detected during their tour to the prone areas this time. Malaria prone areas are those villages lying near Barak River bank and Makru river bank, he added.
After conducting Anti-Malaria Day, the health team performed insecticide treatment of Bed Nets (ITBN). Thousands of mosquito bed nets were performed for impregnation insecticide.
Malaria technical supervisor Makiumanang Gonmei; multi-purpose worker (MPW) Huchamang Gonmei and Driver Ng Gobin Moyon (Ringphu) were also part of the tour team, he added.
