A two-day state level webinar workshop on Adventure sports concluded on Wednesday at Manipur University, Canchipur.
The workshop was jointly organised by the department of physical education and sports science, Manipur university, Fit India Campaign Committee and Fit India Club, Manipur university in collaboration with India Mountaineering Foundation, Northeast on July 7 to 8.
The main idea behind the workshop which was taken part by around 200 individuals from across the country is to provide a carefully planned stimulating environment which will provide people an excellent foundation for creative thinking.
Speaking during the workshop, vice chancellor of Manipur University, Jarnail Singh said that adventure sports is an exciting experience that moulds a person's potential to participate in extreme sports. He also said that adventure sports involve speed, height, high level of physical exertion, highly specialised gear and it involves physical exertion and skill which an individual or a team compete against another or with nature.
Coordinator, Adventure Sports, Manipur University, L Santosh Singh expressed that adventure sports is exciting and a wonderful experience for every person. It comprises a wide range of activities such as Mountaineering, Rock climbing, Trekking, Skiing, River Rafting, Parasailing, paragliding, scuba diving and many more.
Different activities under adventure sports are conducted depending on the situation, climate and environment, he added.
During the workshop, different speakers spoke on the topics, introduction of adventure sports and its importance and prospects of adventure sports and adventure tourism in Manipur.
