MLA of Lilong assembly Y Antas Khan and intending candidate of Uripok assembly constituency Kh Raghumani on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at its state party office, Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal.

Antas was elected as an independent candidate from Lilong assembly constituency during the Manipur Legislative Assembly by-election that was held in 2020 and later joined the ruling government.

Antas and Raghumani joined the BJP Manipur in the presence of its president A Sharda Devi, BJP Manipur in-charge Sambit Patra, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, MP Rajya Sabha Leishemba Sanajaoba and others.

Chief Minister N Biren said the national survey team and parliamentary board of the party will make the decision concerning the party ticket. He further said the BJP will be the single largest party in the upcoming state legislative assembly election by winning more than 40 seats against the total of 60 seats.

At present, there are 30 MLAs of the party joining the fray as intending candidates for the coming election. The party is also expecting 10 more seats in other assembly constituencies, he added.

Biren said BJP works irrespective of caste and creed or political party and the party gives priority to the weaker sections to bring equal development and welfare.

Kh Raghumani Singh is a retired commissioner of state Power department and will be contesting in the coming state legislative assembly election from Uripok assembly constituency.
