After as many as 30 employees tested positive for COVID-19, three floors of the State Bank of India (SBI)’s northeast head office in Guwahati have been sealed and the place declared a containment zone, reports said.
As per the reports, the three floors of the eight-storied building was sealed along with the bank's regional business office at Swagata Square complex at ABC Point on Monday. The Kamrup (Metro) district administration on Monday issued an order regarding the same.
The reports further said that of the 30 new positive cases, 22 are detected at the SBI Northeast head office and eight are detected at the regional business office while adding that there has been no contact tracing yet.
“Any unauthorized entry and exit into the notified containment zone are barred till the area is declared safe as per guidelines of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Any movement of any unauthorized individual and vehicle within the notified area is also prohibited with immediate effect. All statutory and other directions regarding maintenance of social Distancing will be strictly enforced in the sealed area,” the reports said, citing the order of the Kamrup (Metro) district administration.
At least 86 SBI employees in Guwahati have tested positive for the novel coronavirus so far, the reports added.
Meanwhile, Assam has so far registered 12,522 COVID-19 positive cases, including 7,882 recovered cases and 4,623 active cases. The death toll increased to 15 as one more COVID-19 patient from Nagaon who was admitted to a Covid Covid ICU in Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) succumbed to the infection on Tuesday.
