Manipur's COVID-19 active caseload surges to 584
As many as 61 new COVID-19 positive cases and one death was reported in Manipur on Thursday.

Manipur on Thursday recorded 61 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,24,700 while the death toll mounted to 1,956 with one more fatality, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 3.5 per cent. 

The single COVID-19 fatality recorded on Thursday was from Imphal West. The deceased had co-morbidities and was not vaccinated, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 28 and 17 cases respectively. Six cases were reported from Thoubal, four from Kamjong, two each from Bishnupur and Kakching, and one each from Chandel and Ukhrul.

The state also recorded 28 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,22,160.

The recovery rate is 97.96 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 584 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 158 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and six B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 20,83,653 (first dose: 12,65,965 second dose: 8,17,688). The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 54.08 per cent and for the second dose is 34.93 per cent, it mentioned.
