Manipur: COVID-19 claims four more lives despite fall in positivity rate
The state's tally reached 1,24,517, while the death toll mounted to 1,953 with four more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department.

Manipur on Monday recorded 2.8 per cent positivity rate as the daily COVID-19 positive cases fell to 35. The state's tally reached 1,24,517, while the death toll mounted to 1,953 with four more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. 

The four COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Monday are from Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur and Ukhrul. Of the four deceased, three had co-morbidities and none of them are vaccinated, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 16 and 12 cases respectively. Two cases were reported from Kakching and one each from Bishnupur, Chandel, Kamjong, Tengnoupal and Ukhrul.

The state also recorded 26 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,21,764.

The recovery rate is 97.79 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 800 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 365 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and seven B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 20,59,714 (first dose: 12,61,813 second dose: 7,97,901). The cumulative number of person who havs been vaccinated in the state with first dose is 53.90 per cent and for second dose is 34.08 per cent, it mentioned.
