Mizoram continued to report the highest COVID-19 active caseload in Northeast India with 5,838 active cases, followed by Assam with 3,261 active cases, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.
On Thursday, Mizoram recorded 631 new COVID-19 positive cases while Assam reported 251 new positive cases. Mizoram's COVID-19 confirmed tally reached 1,27,548, including 1,21,254 recovered cases and 456 deaths. While in Assam, the confirmed COVID-19 caseload reached 6,13,312, including 6, 04,009 recovered cases.
Assam also recorded the maximum number of COVID-19 deaths in Northeast India with 6,042 fatalities, followed by Manipur with 1,941 deaths and Meghalaya with 1,462 deaths, according to the Ministry data.
In Manipur, the COVID-19 confirmed caseload is 1,24,328, including 1,21,266 recoveries and 761 deaths.
In Arunachal Pradesh, the COVID-19 active caseload dropped to 44, while a total of 54,884 patients have recovered, out of 55,208 confirmed caseload while 280 patients have succumbed to the infection in the state.
Nagaland's COVID-19 tally reached 31,966 on Thursday, including 31,102 recovered cases, 172 active cases and 692 deaths.
In Tripura, there are 816 active COVID-19 cases. A total of 133 people have died while 83,695 have recovered from the infection. The state's confirmed COVID-19 tally reached 84,644.
Meghalaya's COVID-19 tally reached 83,962, of which 82,227 cases have been recovered, while 273 have died. The state's COVID-19 active caseload was 1,462 as of Friday morning.
In Sikkim, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases is 32,080, of which 31,554 have recovered, 126 have died while 400 are active cases, as per the Union Ministry data.
