Students association suspends 48-hour economic blockade
The Joint Tribe Students Association (JTSA) had declared a 48-hour non-violence economic blockade along national highway 37 from 4 pm on Thursday against the alleged vandalism at Chingkham Rongmei (Kabui) village, Thoubal district.

The Joint Tribe Students Association (JTSA), Tamenglong has suspended its 48-hour economic blockade along national highway 37 which was scheduled to begin from 4 pm on Thursday.

JTSA, in a release, stated on Thursday that after due intervention from Chief Minister N Biren Singh, an understanding was reached among all the parties in matters related to the Chingkham (Kabui) Rongmei Village. Therefore, the declared economic blockade has been suspended after due intervention from the chief minister, JTSA stated.

It stated that a meeting was held with DGP Manipur LM Khaute at Nungba headquarter on Thursday with JTSA in the presence of Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM), Rongmei Naga Luhphwam (RNLPM) and Nungba Area Village Authority Association(NAVAA).

JTSA extended appreciation to the state government for taking initiative and also appealed to the same to speedily expedite all the assurances keeping in mind the safety of every individual and minority community on top priority.

JTSA also extended its gratitude to IG (Law and Order) Jayanta, superintendent of police Thoubal H Yogeschandra, officer in charge Lilong police station Md Riaz and their team for timely action in putting the situation under control.

JTSA further appealed to the dominant community to set every best example to the minority community on humanitarian ground and desist from taking law into few hands to prove that might is not always right where every society subscribes to peaceful co-existence.

Earlier in the day, JTSA had declared a 48-hour non-violence economic blockade along national highway 37 from 4 pm on Thursday.

As per a release issued by JTSA comprising of Rongmei Naga Students Organisation Manipur(RNSOM), Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR), All Inpui Students Union, (AISU), Zeme Students Organisation Manipur (ZSOM) on Thursday, the bandh was imposed in condemnation against the alleged vandalism at Chingkham Rongmei (Kabui) village, Thoubal district.
