Construction worker shot at, succumbs to injuries in Imphal East
A construction worker who died of bullet injuries in Imphal East on Wednesday hailed from Assam.

One labourer employed in construction of a bridge at Laiphrakpam Awang Leikai, Litan Makhong, Imphal East, succumbed to bullet injuries on Wednesday morning after he was shot at by an unidentified person at around 11 pm Tuesday.

The victim was staying together with nine other labourers inside a makeshift hut at the construction site when the miscreant opened fire.  

The victim, Riyajul, 24, son of Asman Ali of Moregaon, Assam was rushed to RIMS, Lamphel after sustaining bullet injury. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital at about 7 am on Wednesday.

Teams of commando, Imphal West and Thoubal district along with officer-in-charge, Wangoi police station and Lilong police station conducted search operation in the surrounding area, after the incident. No reports of any arrest have been made till the filing of this report.
