Imphal East: Elderly women enjoy special Ningol chakkouba celebration in Andro

A special Ningol Chakkouba festival for the elderly women folks of Andro constituency was organised on Friday by the Development Organisation Andro Kendra Youth Front (DOAKYF) at Yairipok Angtha, Imphal East.
Around 500 women belonging to various ethnic groups attended the festival where they were felicitated with gifts and a grand feast, as traditional practice by the Meetei community since time immemorial.
Speaking to the media, president of DOAKYF S Bimol said it was organised with an ideology to unite all the people of Andro AC regardless the difference in castes and religion.
The youth front is fortunate to get the opportunity to serve the elderly women on the occassion of Ningol Chakouba which is the festival of loving bond between brothers and sisters, he added.
Former Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar who also attended the occassion lauded DOAKYF for taking up such initiatives in uniting the people of Andro on the occassion of Ningol Chakouba.
He appealed, "Let's all live together unitedly as a family regardless difference in religion or community."
The women folks who attended the festival gave blessing to the members of DOAKYF and to Shyamkumar.
