COVID-19 claims three more victims despite fall in positivity rate in Manipur
Of the 1,275 sample test results received on Friday, a total of 44 more people tested positive for Covid-19 across Manipur.

The scourge of Covid-19 refused to leave the state as three more patients succumbed to the disease even as the number of daily cases continued to drop with 44 new positive tally reported on Friday. The current positivity rate stood at 3.5 per cent, according to the latest update by the state Health department.

A total of 1,275 sample test results were recieved on Friday. As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 31 and eight cases respectively. Two cases were reported each from Tamenglong and one each from Bishnupur, Kamjong and Thoubal.

The state's Covid-19 confirmed tally moved to 1,24,001 while the death toll mounted to 1,930 with the three new fatalities. 

The three COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Friday are from Imphal East, Tamenglong and Ukhrul. Of the three deaths two of them had co-morbidities and none were vaccinated, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

The state also recorded 32 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,21,358. The recovery rate is 97.87 per cent, the release added. Manipur now has 713 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 356 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and nine B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine had reached 19,99,539 (first dose: 12,52,251 second dose: 7,47,288).
