The Editor Guild Manipur (EGM) and the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) on Tuesday condoled the sudden death of former editor of 'Ching Tam' daily Manihar Goswami.

The EGM stated in a release that it shared the grief of his family and wished them strength as they go through a difficult time.

"Goswami was an active journalist who helped shape the way we think through his newspaper and later he joined politics to serve the people of Manipur," it said adding, "His demise is a loss for the people."

Manihar Goswami was also a founder member of AMWJU.

AMWJU in a release stated that Manihar worked selflessly for the welfare of the journalist community of Manipur.

In his death the media fraternity of Manipur has lost a hard working and sincere journalist which will create a vacuum hard to be filled, it added.

"We share the sorrow and grief of the bereaved family," the release added.

Manihar was a resident of Wangkhei Konsam Leikai, Imphal East. He was 88.
