Manipur on Wednesday recorded 71 new COVID-19 positive cases, including four Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, while three more persons from Imphal East died due to the infection in a span of 24 hours, according to the latest update by the state health department.
With the addition of the new positive cases, Manipur's COVID-19 caseload reached 1,22,970, while the three fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,904.
A total of 2,081 test results were received on Wednesday, of which 71 samples were found positive for COVID-19. The day's positivity rate dropped to 3.4 per cent, as per the update.
Imphal West continued to report the highest number of daily positive cases with 26, followed by Imphal East with 16 new cases, including four CAPF personnel. The other new COVID-19 positive cases included 12 from Ukhrul, five from Bishnupur, four from Churachandpur, three from Kakching, two from Senapati, and one case each from Kamjong, Kangpokpi and Thoubal, the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated in a release.
All precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.
All the three victims had comorbidities and two were vaccinated with the first dose, the release stated.
The state recorded 66 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,19,706. The recovery rate is 97.35 per cent, while the number of active cases stood at 1,360, the release added.
Meanwhile, a total of 605 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 125 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur.
As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine reached 18,48,683 (first dose: 12,38,100 second dose: 6,10,583).
