The Manipur University on Sunday postponed the entrance examination for Masters degree in Manipuri for the academic session 2021-2023, after candidates appearing for the said examination walked out of the examination hall. The students were enraged over alleged delay in providing the exam question papers, sources said.

One of the candidates, N Tanoranjan, told the media that the duration of the examination was from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm. However, the invigilator distributed the OMR sheets at around 2.15 and the question papers were not distributed till 3.30 pm, he said. The applicants became irate due to the delay and left the examination hall. He added.

The invigilators tried to control the situation at their best, he said. The faculty of the department cited that the delay was caused by power outage and they were trying to restore power using a generator, he added. He lamented that MU despite being a Central university, not having even basic infrastructure, was very unfortunate.

He alleged that similar incidents of delay in entrance examinations of the said department also occurred last year. The authority concerned should draw attention in this regard, he added.

Following it, the Manipuri department of Manipur University has issued a notification about the postponement of the MA entrance examination for the academic session 2021-2023.

The notice issued by HOD of Manipuri department, clarified that the entrance examination for the department had been called off due to some technical problems. After an emergency meeting was called, the faculty unanimously concluded to postpone the examination to October 27 at 12:30 PM, it stated.
