Well-known Manipur's bodybuilder Arambam Boby feels that it is time for him to share his expertise with the younger generation to build up a stronger society and boost the bodybuilding scenario not only in the state but at the international platform as well.
Boby has taken voluntary retirement from his Indian Railways job in January 2021 to dedicate himself in grooming youngsters in the state.
Boby told mediapersons that taking cue from the recent success from various world championships, there is great prospect for Manipur bodybuilders in Asia as well as international platform.
“In view of producing more bodybuilders, I have opened a gym at Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai and it will be inaugurated on October 31, 2021. On the same day the 1st Boby Classic Bodybuilding Championship 2021 will also be held at MU Centenary Hall. There will be three categories in the contest- below 70kg, above 70kg and Men Physique. Top three bodybuilders will be picked from each category to compete among themselves for the gold medal, silver and bronze medal. Cash Prizes, trophies, certificates will be awarded too,” said Boby.
Throwing light on his career spanning 25 years of bodybuilding starting from 1995 to 2020, he said that he had won 25 national medals and 21 medals in international contests.
Every bodybuilder loved competitions but that had been deprived for the last two years due to COVID-19 pandemic. To stay in shape, there is a need to start the competition at the earliest and by God’s grace, the COVID situation has somewhat improved, he added.
“As I have stayed away from my birthplace for a long time, I feel I could share what I have learnt or gain to fill the gap, and this is the main motivation for opening the gym and holding the contest,” said Boby.
All Manipur Body Building Association general secretary, Y Sunanta also attended the press conference.
