The Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Manipur on Friday announced that it is all set to celebrate the World Environment Day 2022 on June 5.

It stated in a release that the celebration of the World Environment Day with the theme - Only One Earth - will be held at the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) site at Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai, Imphal.

The function will be observed with a tree plantation programme and felicitation of brand ambassador of CM’s Green Manipur Mission Elangbam Valentina Devi and Royal Riders Manipur, Meitei Langol, Lamphelpat, it mentioned.

It stated that the programme will be followed by the release of World Environment Day Stickers, T Shirts, Caps along with a ‘Motorcycle Rally’ by Royal Riders Manipur to be flagged off by the chief guest. The plantation programme will continue to take place at the eastern side of the Shri Shri Govindajee Temple, Kangla, it added. 

Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Manipur, director Y Nabachandra Singh mentioned that the event will be attended by Chief Minister N Biren Singh; state Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Th Biswajit Singh; state chief secretary Rajesh Kumar; additional chief secretary of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, government of Manipur MH Khan; and vice chancellor of Dhanamanjuri University (DMU), Manipur N Rajmuhon Singh as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
