Locals of Singjamei Wangma Torban Kshertri Leikai on Tuesday staged a one-day sit-in-protest demanding to book the culprits involved in hit-and-run case of one Kshetrimayum Rajesh.
A woman died after being run over by a truck in Imphal West around 12 am Monday.
The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Miranjan Begum from Lilong Yangbi. Miranjan was on her way to Khwairamband Bazaar when the auto-rickshaw she was traveling with was hit by a Tata truck at Singjamei
The incident occurred at around 7.50 pm when a fast speeding Bolero taxi knocked down the homebound two pedestrians recklessly and sped away.
The woman was allegedly hit by a Tata DI truck bearing registration number MN02G 2646 which was travelling from Bishnupur to Imphal.
The road accident victim's father said the state government not finding the culprits even after a month of the incident is unfortunate.
The incident happened around 10 pm near Thoubal Kiyam Siphai Babu Market along NH 102, Imphal Moreh Road.
