Zou Gal Memorial Shield open volleyball tournament kicks off

The tournament will be participated by 12 teams from different parts of the state who will play for the trophy with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with Rs 25,000 for the runners-up.

The State Level Open Volleyball Tournament 2023 under the 22nd Zou Gal Memorial Shield organised by the All Manipur Volleyball Association kicked off at the P Kamdou Veng Ground in Churachandpur district on Wednesday.

The inauguration programme was attended by additional DC of Churachandpur Thienlaljoy Gangte as the chief guest, additional DC (Adm) S Khaikhopau Ngaihte as the guest of honour along with Singngat assembly constituency MLA Chinlunthang and the chief of P Kamdou Veng.

In the inauguration match, four matches were played in a base of three formats of volleyball. In the first round, Pianken Tangmual Team beat P Gelmol YC with a score of 3-0; in the second match, the All Stars Team beat Takchapa Volleyball Lovers (B) with a 3-0 score, in the third match, the Kachikul team beat Takchapa VL (A) with a score of 3-0 and in the 4th round, the B Phaicham  YC beat DN Volleyball Academy with a score of 3-0.

The organisers informed that a women’s volleyball tournament will be organised at the Zou CSO’s Level so as to mark the 22nd Zougal Memorial Volleyball Tournament.
