YPHU Lallambung got the better of AFC Thoubal by 3-2 goals in the 14th Manipur State League 2021 sponsored by Kh Joykisan and organised by AMFA at Artificial Turf Lamlong Thongkhong, Imphal East.
In an evenly contested match, YPHU opened their goal account in the 8 minute of play albeit a suicide goal from W Arunkumar Singh, while trying to clear the ball incidentally popped inside the net for the lead. However, S Roger brought parity to the scoreline when he delivered the equaliser for AFC team in the 34 minute.
Just before the first half whistle, a goalmouth melee saw N Olen getting the better of the chaotic situation to push YPHU second goal in 45+2 minute to enjoy the lead. Later in the second half, M Amarjit consolidated for the YPHU team when he struck home the third goal in 54 minute to dictate terms in the game.
But AFC Thoubal raced back to the game and it was seasoned campaigner Sahidur Rahaman who drove home the second goal in the 59 minute but proved not enough for the day. AFC player Th Thomas, Premkumar got a yellow card in the match.
In another match, MPSC Police HQ beat NACO Nambul Mapal by 2-0 goals with Khem Bahadur in 48 minute and E Umakanta in the 60 minute chipping in with the winning goals.
