Youngest professional MMA fighter from Manipur, Korouhenba Urungpurel is set to make his international debut with a 12-year-old Russian fighter Ignatity Savchenkov in the ring of ‘Art of Combat’ organised by the AFC Tribal Warriors in Goa on December 16.
Hailing from Tera Amudon Akam Leirak in Imphal West, 11-year-old Korouhenba, son of RK Napoleon and RK Bibicha, started his MMA career in 2021 and has remained an undefeated champion in both the two national bouts he has fought so far.
Trained at the RMX MMA and Fitness under Roshan Meinam, -hree time winner of ONE Championship, the state’s youngest MMA fighter while speaking to the media on Monday at Manipur Press Club, Imphal expressed his eagerness and confidence to fight his international debut and sought blessings from the people of Manipur.
As per the schedule, he will also be fighting a rematch super fight with Lekraj S Bagdewar on December 17 and another fight with a fighter from AFC Tribal Warriors who weigh four kilogram more than him on December 16. Korouhenba weighs 54 kilogram.
Roshan, who accompanied the youngest fighter, said that Korouhenba was the centre of attraction during the Kid’s Super Fight in Warrior’s Dream Series MMA event which was held at Pune in July.
Stating that around 100 kids are presently undergoing MMA training at RMX MMA Fitness, Roshan said that the gym is giving its best training to ensure all the fighters go to a big platform.
Roshan also informed about the possibility of him joining the UFC in May 2023.
