Yaoshang 2022: 12th AMWJU Journalists’ Sports Meet kicks off in Imphal

The Journalists’ Sports Meet is being organised by the AMWJU as a part of the Yaoshang festival celebration 2022.

In celebration of Yaoshang festival, the 12th Journalists’ Sports Meet, 2022 kicked off by flame lighting ceremony held at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, Imphal on Friday.

The sports meet was organised by the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) and it was inaugurated by MLA Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, S Kebi Devi by lighting the ceremonial torch at the Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, Imphal.

The sacred fire from Kangla was collected by AMWJU president Wangkhemchan Samjai; MLA S Kebi Devi, accompanied by AMWJU members and lit the torch.

The events will include Athletics, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Chess, Football and Cricket.

The sports meet will be conducted at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, National Sports Academy indoor stadium, Manipur Press Club and Luwangpokpa Cricket stadium. The event will continue till March 22.

While lighting the ceremonial light, MLA S Kebi Devi said media plays a major role in shaping then society, hence people should cooperate with the media in the development of the society.

AMWJU president W Shamjai many journalists have talents in various sports. The sports meet has been organised to motivate journalists to stay fit and healthy. He appealed to all journalists to maintain discipline while competing each other in the sports meet.
