Yambem Dhanabir Singh crowned with State Level Chess title
The Chess championship, sponsored by Ramnarayan Shastree Trust, saw Y Dhanabir Singh lose his last game against N Herojit, but he had scored enough in the earlier rounds to end with the Champion Trophy as well got richer by Rs 25,000.

Yambem Dhanabir Singh was crowned with the champion title of the 5th Khuraijam Ramnarayan Shastree State Level Open Chess Tournament, 2022 organised by Juvenile Club at its club's premises at Tera Sapam Leirak, Imphal West on Sunday.
The Chess championship, sponsored by Ramnarayan Shastree Trust, saw Y Dhanabir Singh lose his last game against N Herojit, but he had scored enough in the earlier rounds to end with the Champion Trophy as well got richer by Rs 25,000.
Dhanabir finished with seven and half points with a progressive score of 42, out of the nine rounds, for the top spot.
The second spot was taken by Rk Bhogen Singh who finished with 7 points with a progressive score of 38. He collected Rs 18,000 along with Trophy while Kh Sanjoy Singh bagged the third spot with 7 points with progressive score of 36 and was awarded with Rs 12,000 with Trophy.
N Herojit got the fourth spot with 7 points collecting Rs 8000 while L Lalgopal Sharma settled for fifth spot with 6 and half points for Rs 6000, Ph Rajen got sixth spot with Rs 4000, Th Sunachand with seventh spot with Rs 3000, S Lawrence on eight spot with Rs 2000, N Pari, O Ningthem, E Jeakson and Kh Premchandra were also given Rs 1500 each.
The top three players in the U-14 Boys including M Einstien, Dayananda Thoudam and Lemba S and the top two in U-14 Girls including Nadia Sougaijam and Sh Priyangka were also given prizes. The best local players were awarded to M Sanjit while the top three veteran players were also awarded cash prizes including Bit Irom, L Shyamkishore and Dorendro Maibam.
Patsoi Legislator, Sapam Kunjakeshwar(Keba) attended the closing function and distributed prizes and trophies to the players along with other dignitaries.
