UVSA Chajing win opener, beating TRVSA Malom

UVSA Chajing outplayed TRVSA Malom by 7-1 goals in the opening match of the 4th Sangai Trophy Veterans' Football Championship 2022 played at Mapal Kangjeibung on Monday.
In a rain soaked outfield, both teams had a hard time adjusting to the slippery conditions but kept their spirit high with UVSA Chajing more on the offensive mindset.
With a duration of 35 minutes of play in each half, UVSA Chajing got the breakthrough in the 27th minute of play when W Ajit Singh beat TRVSA defender to push home the opening goal. However, TRVSA Malom rallied back strongly for the equaliser and they got the needed break when K Boba shot home in the 35 minute to level 1-1 goals in the first half.
With UVSA Chajing picking up more pace in the second half, goals came easy as they broke the TRVSA defence at will.
N Itocha, making a run on the left, made a close-angle shot to bring up the second goal in 40 minute and later W Ajit yet again found his mark in the 44th minute to consolidate the margin.
Dominating the move, UVSA increased the goal tally further when L Rameshwar popped up a lofted shot to goal in the 49th minute and W Ajit Singh quick-fired with two more goals in the 56th and 68th minute.
K Upen brought up the winning goal for UVSA in 70 plus 1 minute of injury time to romp home with the comfortable victory today. UVSA player L Bipin and TRVSA player Ch Tillo received yellow cards for dangerous play in the match.
In Tuesday's matches, TBSFA Tabungkhok will take on FLAM Yaiskul in the first ground at 2 pm while ATVFA Thangmeiband will face VSA Sora in the second match.
Keirao legislator L Rameshwor Meetei along with Rk Rameshwar Singh, managing director Rk Fortune Developers and donor of Sangai Trophy attended the opening function along with UVFAM officials.
