UVSA Chajing outplayed TRVSA Malom by 7-1 goals in the opening match of the 4th Sangai Trophy Veterans' Football Championship 2022 played at Mapal Kangjeibung on Monday.

In a rain soaked outfield, both teams had a hard time adjusting to the slippery conditions but kept their spirit high with UVSA Chajing more on the offensive mindset.

With a duration of 35 minutes of play in each half, UVSA Chajing got the breakthrough in the 27th minute of play when W Ajit Singh beat TRVSA defender to push home the opening goal. However, TRVSA Malom rallied back strongly for the equaliser and they got the needed break when K Boba shot home in the 35 minute to level 1-1 goals in the first half.

With UVSA Chajing picking up more pace in the second half, goals came easy as they broke the TRVSA defence at will.

N Itocha, making a run on the left, made a close-angle shot to bring up the second goal in 40 minute and later W Ajit yet again found his mark in the 44th minute to consolidate the margin.

Dominating the move, UVSA increased the goal tally further when L Rameshwar popped up a lofted shot to goal in the 49th minute and W Ajit Singh quick-fired with two more goals in the 56th and 68th minute.
