Unacco School Meitram, Imphal West emerged winner of the State Inter School 51st JN Junior Boys (U-17) Hockey Tournament 2023 beating Five Star English High School, Lilong Dam Thoubal by massive score of 10-0 goals.
The tourney was organised by YAS Department at Hockey Stadium, Khuman Lampak.
Unacco School, who were unbeaten in the tournament, continued their good stick work to outsmarts Star English School, who missed opportunities with wayward hits.
Unacco School skipper S Sanson made his impact in the 3rd minute of play, scoring a field goal and later, S. Borish consolidated in the 5th minute of play in the first quarter of the 15-minute play.
Though Star English School made some quick runs they failed to get past through with sloppy passes, resulting in Unacco School jumping on every opportunity.
L Max brought up the third goal from a penalty corner in the 18th minute and later skipper S Sanson, P Jackson and M Thoiba struck a goal each from a penalty corner to make 6-0 goals in the second quarter.
Later, Y Rishi got two more goals and Ksh. Borish and L. Max pushed home a goal each for the victory.
As for the U-17 Girls, Unacco School Meitram thrashed Five Star English School, Lilong Dam Thoubal by 11-0 goals to book their final berth. H. Henthoi Chanu scored four goals while skipper L. Ritu Devi made two goals, K. Eleena, T. Sonika, Daina W, K. Ronika and K. Priyangka fetched one goal each.
Unacco School Meitram will meet Wabagai High School, Kaching in the final match on Tuesday.
In the U-15 Boys final match, RM School, Imphal West will take on Young Pioneers' English School, Imphal East. In the last league matches, Young Pioneers' English School beat Wabagai High School by 17-0 goals while Five Star English School, Thoubal beat Thaimei Gaigangpou English School, Bishnupur by 4-2 goals.
