Ukhrul will face Churachandpur in the final of the 6th Hill District Sports Meet 2021-22 organised by Hill District Sports Association Manipur (HIDSAM) on Saturday at Mini Sports Complex, Chandel.
In the first semi final between Ukhrul and Chandel, both teams rubbed shoulders and were going neck to neck in each passing minute of the game but Ukhrul had the last laugh as they beat Chandel by 4-3 goals.
Ukhrul started with a bang with Khangampam Zimik getting the opening goal in 4 minute of play for the lead. However Chandel forward Bedeenpar, rattle his way to fetch the equaliser in 26 minute and later he went to consolidate in the 36 minute to post 2-1 goals in first half.
However, Ukhrul was far from over as Paniel Shatsang drew parity to the goal when he scored in 47 minute and little later Ningon Chipang provided the lead for Ukhrul with the third goal in 51 minute.
With competition hots up, it was Bedeenpar again, who came up with the equaliser from a penalty conversion in 61 minute to level 3-3 goals. As the edges went on, Ukhrul sprang up the surprise when Khangampam Zimik pumped home the winning goal in 70 minute, to guide his team to the final.
The second semi final saw Churachandpur beat Tamenglong by a comprehensive margin of 5-1 goals, to sail into the final. Selminthang and LM Neihsial scored two goals each while Joe fetch one goal for the Churachandpur team. The lone goal for Tamenglong was scored by Sinthailung.
