The 44th Annual Sports Meet 2022 of Tujang Area Youth Association (TAYA) under Kangpokpi assembly constituency was kicked off on Monday. 

The inaugural ceremony was attended by ADC Sadar Hills caretaker chairman, Haokholal Hangshing as chief guest while chief of S Molnom Haotinlen Vaiphei and former executive member ADC Sadar Hills Lamkholen Kipgen attended as guest of honour and president respectively. 

Reverend Lunkhosat Kipgen attended as the dedicating minister ST Thangboi attended as the donor/special guest.

ADC Sadar Hills caretaker chairman Haokholal Hangshing inaugurated the monolith erected to commemorate the inauguration of the renovated playground of TAYA which was dedicated by reverend Lunkhosat Kipgen in the presence of other dignitaries.

Speaking at the gathering, Haokholal Hangshing said that it has become important to have a good playground especially in a state like Manipur for the youth as it is recognised as the powerhouse of football in the country.

Exhorting the youth of the Tujang area, he said that one should play with determination and commitment so that one can be the next inspiration for the next generation.

Other dignitaries also spoke on the occasion as they also distributed red blankets to all the village chiefs of the Tujang area.

Following the inspection of players by the chief guest and the dignitaries and the inauguration of the annual sports meet by the caretaker chairman of ADC Sadar Hills, a premier match was played between P Khothah Part II Youth Club and Cananphai Youth Club to mark the opening of the annual sports meet matches.

Cananphai Youth Club overwhelmed P Khothah Part II Youth Club 2-0 to win the premier match. Laljalen (25th) and Lalgoumin (67th) scored for Cananphai Youth Club.

Cultural dance from Kholjang Youth Club, Paspati Gorkha Youth Club, and Saikotjang Youth Club mark the occasion.

Tujang Area Chiefs' Organisation and various other local civil bodies also attended the inaugural and opening ceremony.
