Manipur claimed the overall champion title, bagging 67 medals in the 22nd Sub-Junior National Wushu Championship 2022 held at Mandi, Himachal Pradesh from July 9-15, 2022.
The medal winners and participants were felicitated by Youth Affairs and Sports, Manipur at Khuman Lampak Multipurpose Wushu Hall on Friday.
The Wushu players bagged 31 gold, 18 silver, 8 bronze medals from Taolu event and 4 gold and 6 bronze medals from Sanda event, giving a total of 35 gold, 18 silver and 14 bronze medals for the overall team champion title.
Thirty-seven players, including U-12 and U-14 participated in the championship. P Thoibi Devi is the Taolu coach while Y Sapana Devi as manager and N Niroda Devi as Sanda coach and M Rameshchandra Singh as manager of the Manipur team.
Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Govindas Konthoujam and principal secretary YAS SS Chhabra along with director YAS T Phulen Meitei and YAS joint director L Jayantakumar Singh attended the felicitation function.
