Y Dhanabir Singh enjoyed a slender lead collecting six-and-half points to stay on top in the 5th Khuraijam Ramnarayan Shastree Memorial State Level Open Chess Tournament 2022 held at Juvenile Club, Tera Sapam Leirak.
Although Dhanabir Singh managed to wrest a full point against K Poireikhomba Meitei in the seventh round of the tournament, he managed a stale draw against Rk Bhogen Singh, to share half a point each, in the sixth round played earlier in the day.
With the onset of the seventh round, giving a tough challenge for the top spot is Rk Bhogen who has collected six points to enjoy the second spot at the moment. Th Sunachand is with 5 and half points for the third slot.
Players who are with 5 points include K Poireikhomba Meitei, N Herojit, Kh Sanjoy Singh, S Lawrence, E Shashikanta, L Lalgopal Sharma, Ph Rajen, Ngakuimi Kasar, N Pari and S Premjit.
