Sports Wrap: Sirti Chandel, UVSA Chajing wins 4th Sangai Trophy

Sirti Chandel came up with their first win beating KVFA Kakching by a solitary goal in the 4th Sangai Trophy Veterans' Football Championship 2022 organised by United Veteran Football Association and played at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong.

Sirti Chandel struck early in 3 minute of play from KH.Loveson Monsang to enjoy the driver seat and managed to hold on till the final whistle, to collect full points from the victory. KVFA player N.Jugeshwor was booked with a yellow card in second half play.

In another match, UVSA Chajing beat TBSFA FC by 3-1 goals to garner full points as well. TBSFA FC presented a balanced look in the early hours of the match as they controlled the game with a goal from Kh.Ranjit in 28 minute to enjoy the first half.

But TBSFA FC received a jolt in their rank when W.Premchand was sent off with a red card from double caution in 49 minute by referee M.Inao, reducing to ten men on the field.  Premchand was earlier warned with a yellow card in the 30 minute of first half for dangerous play.

However UVSA turned the tables in the latter stages of the game as they fetched the equaliser in 66 minute from W.Ajit to level 1-1 goals.


With the new found confidence, UVSA started ransacking the defence corridor of its opponent and it was N Itocha who push home the leading goal in 69 minute and later W Ajit came up with the second goal in just in nick of the injury time of 70 plus 1 minute for the deserving win. UVSA player N.Khelendro got a yellow card in the first half.

DSA Chandel gives nod to Anbilish Trust Football Club

The District Sports Association, Chandel has given its nod to re-christened United Lamkang Football Club as Anbilish Trust Football Club with immediate effect.

DSA Chandel, President TS Chamna Anal in a statement said that as no objection has been recieved towards the change of club name, henceforth United Lamkang Football Club will be known by its new name of Anbilish Trust Football Club. All future correspondence shall now be addressed to Anbilish Trust Football Club from this season onwards.

AMFA trim down the probable list to 30 players

The All Manipur Football Association has trimmed down its probable list to thirty players in preparation of the state team for the Hero Women's Junior(U-17) National Football Championship 2022 which will be held at Guwahati, Assam from June 15 onward.

The AMFA had shortlisted a total of seventy seven players for trial cum coaching for the Manipur team.


As per the second list of probables, there are four Goalkeepers, ten Defenders, nine Mid-Fielders and seven Forward from which the final players will be selected for the Championship.

YAS named 113 strong squad for Khelo India Youth Games

The Department of Youth Affairs & Sports has announced a 113 members squad to represent Manipur in Khelo India Youth Games 2021 to be held at Haryana.

The Manipur contingent will be led by Deputy Director YAS, Y.Bony Singh as Chief-De-Mission. Out of the 113 strong squad, 88 are players while 25 are support staff including Coaches and Manager.
Among the players, forty five are women while the rest are men to compete in the disciplines of Archery, Athletic, Boxing, Badminton, Cycling, Hockey, Football, Judo, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Swimming and Thang-Ta.
