New Wangparel YC and Anbilish Trust FC will fight it out for the top title of the ADC Chandel Trophy Super and First Division Football League 2022 organised by DSA Chandel at Liwa Sarei Ground which will be played on Friday.

In the semi final, New Wangparel YC stiff opposition from Hnahringkhu YC, particularly in the first half play but the former clings on to their strategy and got the break in the 8th minute of play when Gailung ruffled the net from a close angle for the lead.

However, Hnahringkhu YC rode back to the game confidently and got the reward from a penalty in the 22nd minute of play and Warkham made no mistake in converting the shot to perfection to level 1-1 goals in the first half.

The muddy outfield owing to rain, failed to dampen the spirit of New Wangparel team as they pulled up their socks and their effort paid off in the 51st minute with Gailung pushed home his second goal to consolidate the lead and later Lungdin fetched the winning goal in the 67th minute for the victory today.

Hnahringkhu YC attacking play was left to tatter as two of their players John, who was double caution, and Kolni lost to red cards from referee Phowlngam in the early part of the second half, rendering them to nine men on the field. Hnahringkhu player Alower and New Wangparel players Rengir, Lungam also got yellow cards in the match.

In the second semi final, Anbilish Trust FC drubbed Kapaam DC by 6-1 goals to stake a claim in the final match as well. It was an Anbilish Trust game all the way as they struck at regular intervals with Renghon scoring two goals while Paulin, Alex, Sethot and TS Nilky fetched a goal each. The lone goal for Kapaam was scored by Ringsangam. Anbilish player Rengthot and Kapaam player Lasha got yellow cards for reckless foul. 

Brilliant Academy record huge win

Brilliant Academy Melaground, Thoubal drubbed Rk Sanatombi Vidyalaya, Jiribam by 13-0 goals in the opening match of the 28th Nehru Junior (U-17) Girls State Level Hockey Tournament, 2022 organised by YAS Manipur at Hockey Stadium Khuman Lampak.

In the other matches, Young Pioneer's School, Imphal East beat Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School, Chandel by 12-0 goals while Thaimei Guiganpou English School, Bishnupur beat Unacco School, Imphal West by 4-0 goals and Brilliant Academy Melaground, Thoubal beat Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School, Chandel by 6-0 goals.

Best Physique Competitions

The All Manipur Body Builders Association is conducting the State Level Best Physique Competition (Boys and Girls) under the aegis of Directorate of University and Higher and Technical Education, Manipur and it will be hosted by Biramangol College, Sawombung from August 6-7 at its Multipurpose Hall.

Students are informed to contact their respective Institutions for an entry form, which should be duly submitted by August 3. The girls’ competition will be held on August 6 while the Boys competition will be held the next day.
