Ganggam SC, Churchandpur upset Neroca FC, Sangakpham by a solitary goal win in the 14th Manipur State League 2021 sponsored by Kh Joykishan Singh and organised by AMFA at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong, Imphal East.
The GSC team made most of the run in the first half but met with little success until they brought up the lone winning goal from a penalty kick.
Neroca FC literally was being pushed back to its own territory with its opponent willy runs and short passes, and made the blunder when a goal line cross from right found Lael Shongsir Monsang handling the ball while sweeping away clear for the penalty in the 25 minute of play.
S Thanglalrem Gangte made no mistake in shooting the left of the keeper to bring up the winning goal.
Neroca FC should have capitalised the margin in the first half itself but Manglenthang Lupheng panicked and missed a sitter, shooting to the right of the upright with goalmouth open to himself.
GSC players H Paulienjel, Nohminlen Haokip and Neroca FC player S. Thomas got yellow cards in the match.
In the other match, YPHU Lalambung beat Muvanlai Athletics by 2-0 goals to pick up full points. M Manisana and P.Renedy scored a goal each for the YPHU team.
Muvanlai Athletics players Paoboilen, Paokhohao and YPHU players S.Raju, Lamminlen, K Jamson received yellow cards in the match.
In Sunday's match, KIYC Khetrigao will take on DM Rao, Sekmai at 10 am.
KRFC Moirang wins
KRFC Moirang beat ASSA Sangaiyumpham by 3-1 goals in the 25th Th. Birachandra-Maipakpi Memorial Winner's Cup for Men 2021-22 played at former home turf at Sagang Ground.
The goal for KRFC Moirang was scored by Singte George Kom, M Emmanuel, Chungneireng while the lone goal for ASSA was fetched by Md Ejaz.
KRFC players Joel Kom, ST Thangboi, Thangmoi Telien and ASSA players Md Aris Khan, Md Zafar got yellow cards in the match.
In Sunday's match, UBFC Ukhrul will take on UBSA Kakching at their home ground at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong at 1.30 pm.
MU players selected
The Department of Sports, Manipur University has selected four table tennis players to represent MU in the East Zone Inter University Table Tennis(Women) Championship 2021-22 to be held at LN Mithila University, Darbhanga, Bihar from January 4-7, 2022.
The players are Ak. Bitto Chanu of W. Mani Girl's College, H. Senorita Devi of Kakching Khunou College, Binita Thiyam of Standard College and Linthoingambi T of Manipur University.
The two players in the reserves list are KC Kakhugulu and Molly Wahengbam of MU.
