KSC Kangpokpi enters the semi final beating NACO Nambul Mapal by 2-1 goals in the 12th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial CRPF Football Tournament 2021-22 played at Artificial Turf, SAI Sports Complex, Takyel.
Both teams took their time to get settled in the game and at the same time, looking for loose ends to get past each other. Despite a long lull of noteworthy activity, KSC made the breakthrough in the 65 minute of play when Lenminlun Doungel shattered the silence, slicing home the opening goal to bring raptures to the crowd.
Not to be sidelined for long, NACO collected their wits and made their move and it was Y. Sibachandra Singh who ruffled the net in the 74 minute to draw parity to the scorecard. But their joy short lived as KSC made more offensive runs which fetched good dividends when Ginkholen brought up the winning goal in 80 minute for the victory, enroute to the semi final.
Kuki Sporting Club, Kangpokpi player Michael Tunlalpaul got a yellow card for rough tackle from referee H Mahesh.
In the second quarter final, Classic Football Academy, Chingmeirong got the better of Neroca FC, Sangakpham by 7-6 goals during penalty shootout after both teams were tied with 1-1 goal during regulation hours.
Neroca FC enjoyed the upper hand in the first half with Chungsabarian finding the opening goal in 20 minute of play but Classic FA settled the score with Serto Wosneilen fetching the equalizer in 52 minute, needing the kicks from penalty mark to decide the semi finalist.
Classic FA wasted one kick during the penalty shootout but Serto Wosneilen, Tongminsei Kipgen, Dettol M, Kh. Gogocha, Kh. Lamnganba and Robert Sorokhaibam converted their kicks. As for Neroca FC, S. Thomas, Kh. Lucky, Jornathan Cardozo, Benjamin Lupheng and W. Rohit Meitei found the net while two of their players failed to convert it.
