The four-day long first ‘9 Men Soccer Knockout tournament’ concluded at Rengpeng Ground under Noney District on Saturday.
The tournament was organised by Rengpang Youth Development Organisation (RYDO) under the motto of ‘Ever Vibrant’.
The closing ceremony was attended by president, Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) Daichui Gangmei, vice president, Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) Athan Ruangmei as chief guest and guest of honour respectively in the presence of president, Rengpang Youth Development Organisation (RYDO) Gaibilung Gangmei.
Speaking on the occasion, Daichui Gangmei expressed his gratitude to the organising committee and well wishers for their warm welcome and giving him an opportunity to attend the event as a chief guest.
He exhorted players to play by maintaining the discipline of game and sporting spirits in the days to come.
He said that physical fitness keeps the body free from any kind of diseases. He mentioned that the youths are the leaders of the future and they have a role in bringing unity and peace.
As many as 18 Soccer teams/clubs took part in the tournament.
Final match was played between Luangchum Football club and Kaengbianpang Football club, and the match was won by Luangchum football club by scoring 1:0.
Distribution of prize, dehoisting of flag by chief guest, special song and music enthralled by several artists were the main highlights of the closing ceremony.
